Most people don't know that Korea has one of the longest histories of all nations in East Asia and that such a long history has left many architectural testimonies. My biggest surprise while first coming to Seoul was discovering the high number of beautiful palaces and traditional areas something I really did not expect. If you're a bit of a Korean drama fan, especially of sageuk (historical dramas) you will soon have recognized most of these places and costumes and with a little bit of imagination you might start thinking you just got out of a time machine that sent you back hundreds years ago in the middle of some court machinations that you as a special agent mandated by the rightful heir to the crown now in exil will have to stop... Well or maybe as you'll have just noticed korean drama might mess up your mind a bit.

A real advice though: don't leave the city without going shopping for some antique in Insadong and if your budget is kind of limited, just buy one of these beautiful fans and get your name of the one of your loved one written down on it. That makes for a really nice souvenir.
